Come and join us for the third annual Glass Stock East!
Glass Stock East is a sharing, collaborating event modeled after the Glass Stock festival which has run for 10 years on the Oregon Coast by Deb Crowley with much success! From a small gathering of 30 of Deb's friends in 2003 to almost 90 in attendance at Glass Stock West in 2012, this event as grown in popularity with artists willing to teach and share for the opportunity to do the same.
It is a chance to get "out of the box" and learn new skills, get priceless feedback and inspiration.
Deb has teamed up with some of her west coast staff and new east coast artists to host this event at Carlisle School of Glass for 2013, our 3rd year on the east coast! We have chosen Wednesday evening of October 2nd, 2013, as opening night and October 3- 6th, 2013, as the dates for the event to come together and collaborate on some incredible, unique art glass. Glass Stock East will be held at the Carlisle Glass School in Millville, NJ. You can go to Carlisle Machine Works (carlislemachine.com) to see the school and their incredible torches.
You may sign up anytime from January 2nd to September 30, 2013! Email questions to GSEast@debcrowley.com or deb@debcrowley.com or carlislemachine.com. You can also call Carlisle Machine at 800-922-1167 to pay tuition!
Due to demand, we are opening the sign up for Glass Stock East early this year. The dates are October 2nd (Meet and Greet) through October 6th, 2013. We are making some major changes this year, starting with the new 4 full day format like we have been doing for 10 years in Oregon at GS West. We are adding another full day to the event! The Meet and Greet will now be on Wed night with all the demonstrations happening that night, we will also have a bead exchange and light snacks. The next 3 days will be 6 classes (instead of 5 like last 2 years) and Sunday will be the glass elimination, drawings and open torches all afternoon! You will get 4 participating torch classes and 2 "demo or other" classes! We will then have all day Sunday for contests, drawings and open torch!
Carlisle School of Glass will be opening up the payment links as of Jan 2nd, 2013 for early payments. The early bird does catch fatter worms, the sooner you pay the better selection of classes available. The the featured artists and staff are posted below for 2013. The classes will be posted by March 25th so you can see what classes we will be offering. The actual schedule will be up by June 1st and May 1st the newsletters will start coming by email. Class selection via phone will be June 29-30th.
The featured artists for 2013 are Jodie McDougal (murrini goddess!) and Polly Toombs (Beautiful boro beads to sculptured dragon marbles) you can see their work on the GS West page at debcrowley.com. Also new instructors, enameling with Miki Sipos, Knitted, beaded bracelet with Mary Swartzel and Scott Hallam will be teaching boro jewelry sets, ornaments and turtles! We will have Lisa St Martin, Marcy Lamberson, Hugh Salkind, Bill Futer, Cheryl Frech and Deb Crowley (that's me) teaching some new and exciting classes too! Since everyone gets 4 torch classes this year we will be offering more torch classes and less "other" classes.
Thank you all for the support over the years of this event! It really does take all of us to make it great, especially the loyal and talented staff, so let me say again a HUGE thank you to them! Hope to see you all there next year, tell your friends!
Remember payments are being accepted as of January 2nd, 2013 through Carlisle (800-922-1167). No refunds but tuition may be transferred.
